Description
Amchur is made by powdering unripe, green mangoes. This spice has a sweet smell and an extremely tangy flavor, and it is very popular in Northern Indian cuisine. Since it’s a natural souring agent with a tangy taste, this spice is ideal to impart acidity to any dish that needs some zing, from chicken or shrimp marinades to chutneys and curries. Priya Krishna, author of Indian-ish and Bon Appétit’s contributor, states that amchur is the secret ingredient for many Indian-American comfort foods.
