Description
Celtic salt, also sometimes referred to as grey salt or “sel gris”, is an unrefined sea salt harvested by hand in the French region of Brittany, by scraping the bottom of the salt pans after the sun and wind have evaporated seawater and the top layer of white Fleur De Sel has been raked off. The clay lining of the salt ponds is responsible for both the gray color and mineral flavor of Celtic salt. This salt is traditionally used in French, Spanish, and Italian cuisines, both as a cooking and finishing salt, and its mineral complexity makes it an excellent match for hearty foods like root vegetables, cheeses, and meats, as well as a garnish for chocolates and caramels. Recently, Celtic salt has had a boom in popularity due to its barebones harvesting process allowing the salt to retain more natural minerals (like magnesium, calcium, and potassium) than table salt. Naturally vegan and gluten-free.
Available in 1, 3, and 8 ounces.
